Eric Brey

Thornton Center Director


As Director of the Thornton Athletics Student Life Center, Eric Brey oversees the academic support and CHAMPS/Life Skills programs for University of Tennessee student-athletes.

Prior to his current position, Brey was the Associate Athletic Director for Academics at the University of Wyoming from 2002 to 2005. His responsibilities included the oversight of the Office of Academic Support, monitoring both initial and continuing eligibility, campus relations and game day operations. Prior to his position at Wyoming, Brey served as the Assistant Director for Academics and Eligibility at the University of Colorado from 2000 - 2002 and Assistant Director for the Achievement Center for Intercollegiate Athletics at Southwest Missouri State University from 1996 - 2000. While working on his graduate degree, he was an Athletics Intern at the University of Kansas working with a variety of offices within the department.

Brey actively works with the National Association for Academic Advisors for Athletics, Division 1A Athletic Directors Association's CHAMPS program and the NCAA Educational Services office.

Brey earned both his degrees, bachelor's (1994) and master's (1996), from the University of Kansas. He and his wife, Jana, have one son, Jacob.
